Boiling points of Liquids.
(You will need to record your experiment using your chromebook.)
Aim: To boil 2 different liquids and record their boiling points.
Hypothesis: I think that it will blow up in our face and 100 have the highest boiling point.
Equipment:
Test tubes
Bunsen burner
Beaker
Heatproof mat
Tripod
Gauze mat
Beaker
Tongs
Thermometer
Methylated Spirits.
Method:
Set up your bunsen burner with the tripod, gauze mat, beaker and water.
Light the Bunsen burner.
Pour 100ml of water into a beaker.
Place the Thermometer in the water and record its temperature once it boils.
When it has boiled turn off the Bunsen Burner. IT MUST BE OFF.
Add 20ml of Methylated spirits to the test tube.
Place the test tube of methylated spirits in the water beaker.
Place the thermometer in the Methylated Spirits.
Record its temperature.
My Temperature chart
Liquid 80 | Boiling Temperature 100 |
Water100 | |
Methylated Spirits 80 |
Conclusion: it got up to 80 degrees then started to boil and did not blow up in our face.
Water temperature | Meth temperature
After 5 mins it got up to 90 degrees soon we will add the meth | We have just popped in the meth at 100 degrees and let see what happens | We had a 100 c and now waiting to boil the meth | 80 c very high and hot
